Days after the Biden administration announced a rule mandating flight cancelation automatic refunds, four lawmakers overseeing aviation policy in Congress began pushing legislation to reverse it. All of them take substantial airline industry donations.

                                    President's Message

      Brothers and Sisters,

As we move into summer, temperatures will be rising. Make sure to take plenty of water breaks and get some shade whenever possible. You may feel fine, but not drinking enough water can leave you quickly dehydrated. Please follow all the guidelines when it comes to working in the heat.

I continue to see American Airlines using no discretion when it comes to the attendance policy. As a result, members are being moved to levels not deserved. Bona fide sick occurrences mean nothing. I suggest any member moved to a level after providing a doctor's note, should file a grievance to have the level removed.

Equipment still remains one of the most common problems system-wide. Every city I visit has the same issues. Not enough tractors or bag carts along with sub par maintenance. You put something out of service and the next day it's back with the same problem. When something is put out of service, it should be reported immediately. We must never remove OTS tags until the repair is complete.

The Fleet negotiations team has been posted, and we are preparing for the upcoming contract talks. Thank you all who took the time to fill out the survey. We will be using that information to improve our next contract. The Association team is ready and will be prepared when the openers begin.
